Tactile Arts Group

Currently the Tactile Art Group is paused as Vision Loss Connections is focusing on funding and sustainability. We will be applying for Arts and Cultural Funding, so that the Tactile Art Group will continue and flourish with a new sense of creative energy.

The Tactile Art Class is a hands-on experience geared towards artists who are visually impaired. Anyone who wants to make art will find this class interesting. We focus on creating works of art that are experienced primarily by touch. Each class introduces a different tactile project to work with, incorporating a broad range of materials. This is a studio workshop with artist/ facilitators available to assist in your creative endeavors. The class offers the opportunity to explore tools and a variety of materials of interest to the tactile artist. Come and let your artistic expression run wild and have fun in the process. It's free, including the cost of most art supply materials. Friends and family are welcome to join you.

The Groups are Free and Hands On Studio Sessions! Guest Artists often come to demonstrate Tactile Arts Techniques. Over the Years, Stone Sculpting, Ikebana, Collage, Clay Work, Jewelry Making, Pottery & Painting with Tactile Elements Have All Been Explored! The Tactile Art Group with Hjylimar Hinn - Created the Braille Faces Mural on the new Artspace Building adjacent to the Mt. Baker Light Rail Station. The Mural Spells ART in Giant Braille Lettering.
